Moon at Kielder Observatory is part of King's 'Ancient Light' series, which primarily consists of analogue photographs of the night sky, produced in several dark sky locations and at several astronomical observatories. To produce these images, Melanie King participated in residencies away from light pollution, collaborating with University College London and Kielder Observatories. This project was published as Ancient Light by XYZ Books in 2025, with an essay by Professor Val Williams.
